TB-500 is a synthetic 17 amino acid fragment of Thymosin Beta-4 with a large tissue-repair and cellular-migration research literature. This reference sets out reconstitution volumes, working concentrations and the technique details Irish research groups should follow for reproducible TB-500 protocols.
TB-500 fundamentals
- Class: Synthetic fragment of Thymosin Beta-4 (17 amino acids)
- Sequence: LKKTETQ (active site fragment)
- Format: Lyophilised powder
- Peptides Lab Ireland presentation: 2 mg per vial (also 5 mg + 10 mg in blend formats)
- Storage: Lyophilised −20 °C; reconstituted 2–8 °C
- Reconstitution solvent: Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol)
Reconstitution volume reference : 2 mg TB-500 vial
| Diluent added | Working concentration | Volume for common protocol doses |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0 ml bac water | 2 mg/ml (2000 µg/ml) | 500 µg → 250 µl · 1 mg → 500 µl · 2 mg → 1 ml |
| 2.0 ml bac water | 1 mg/ml (1000 µg/ml) | 500 µg → 500 µl · 1 mg → 1 ml |
| 4.0 ml bac water | 0.5 mg/ml (500 µg/ml) | 500 µg → 1 ml · 250 µg → 500 µl |
Working concentration calculation
Standard formula: concentration (µg/ml) = (mg in vial × 1000) ÷ ml of diluent. Example: 2 mg TB-500 + 2 ml bacteriostatic water = 1000 µg/ml (1 mg/ml). A 500 µg protocol dose is 500 µl.
TB-500 research applications
Preclinical research literature on TB-500 covers:
- Cellular migration research : actin sequestration effects on cytoskeletal dynamics
- Wound healing models , dermal repair, muscle regeneration, tendon repair
- Cardiovascular repair research — endothelial cell repair, angiogenesis models
- Neuroregeneration research , neurite outgrowth, nerve repair models
- Muscle regeneration models — satellite cell activation, myofibre repair
Reconstitution technique
- Warm both vials to room temperature.
- Wipe stoppers with alcohol.
- Draw the diluent volume with a 30G insulin syringe.
- Add slowly against the vial wall.
- Swirl gently. Don’t shake.
- Allow to dissolve (typically < 60 seconds).
- Label and refrigerate.
See our full reconstitution guide.
Stability and storage
Reconstituted TB-500 in bacteriostatic water is typically stable at 2–8 °C for 3–4 weeks. For extended protocols, aliquot single-use portions and freeze at −20 °C. See our cold chain guide.
